My son has unhappily begun his second year of high school and my four-year-old daughter, Tabitha, began her education path in home schooling.
Tabby will be five in November so she's at the age where other kids are starting their first year at primary school. It seemed like the right time to jump in and start the nervous but exciting route of home school.
Monday, we planned.
Tuesday, we bought workbooks (great bargain at the 99p shop).
Wednesday, we began.
She was so excited to get to the workbooks and learn. We're beginning with numbers and letters - well, where else can you start? Her daddy bought her a special pen to use and that just made her even more excited.
Obviously, it's not the first time we've taught her. We've been counting, reading, and learning in a more informal way - it's just the time to be more structured.
The first week went well, and I plan to keep the momentum rolling.
